RAM (System Memory)

RAM is dynamic storage for your processor to retrieve data quickly. The data on the RAM isn't persistent, which means that as soon as you turn off your computer, any data in memory will be gone.

The processor reads data from your storage (SSD, Hard Drive) and writes it into the RAM for faster access, also called caching.

Cached data and program file significantly increase the loading speeds of programs.
